A gravel base acts like a sponge by wicking away the water that would normally collect around the bottom of the shed. a concrete base, on the other hand, cannot absorb water. this can create more water runoff issues during heavy rain falls.. The inside of the grids are filled with pea gravel to provide extra weight and stability for larger sheds, but smaller sheds are fine on just the plastic base. the base plastic used to build these items is generally recycled plastic from old garbage containers.. 
shed base on gravel We recommend making the gravel base 2' wider and 2' longer than the size of the shed you get giving you 1' on both sides and ends to help prevent dirt from splashing up on the sidewalls of the building. we recommend a 4" to 6" gravel base of either 3/4" stone also called 57's by some or crusher run.. A gravel base requires preparation. the shed area must be outlined with stakes and builder's twine and squared with diagonal measurements to make 90 degree corners. the depth of excavation depends on the size and weight of the shed, but at least 10 cm (4 inches) of medium gravel -- about 1.2 cm (1/2 inch) in diameter -- is often required..
